Low Caliga Overshoe

These are built after a find from Mainz dated to the 1st cent AD. They feature irregular nailing, only on heel and front. The very basic strap arrangement makes their interpretation as patten-like overshoes by Marquita Volken very plausible IMHO. 
This is what they look like when employed as overshoe for an unnailed Mainz type calceus.
