Shovel from the Comacchio Shipwreck

A wooden shovel made after a find coming from the so-called Comacchio wreck, a Roman cargo vessel found in the Ferrara delta in Italy and dated to the late first century BC. Carved from a single piece of maple wood.

I must say I find these every day, practical items just as intriguing as all those rare and sophisticated pieces of ancient art we so often marvel at.
